Getting Started

Desk Shot is a lightweight screenshot tool that allows you to capture, annotate, and share screenshots quickly. Press Print Screen to capture a screenshot at any time.

Capture Modes

Tip: Right-click the Desk Shot icon in the system tray to switch between capture modes.

Still Shot

Still Shot is a precision capture tool that provides a resizable window with a transparent capture area. Position and resize the window to frame exactly what you want to capture.

How to Use

  1. 1 Right-click the Desk Shot icon in the system tray and select Still Shot.
  2. 2 Position and resize the window so the transparent area frames your desired content.
  3. 3 Use the W: and H: inputs to set exact dimensions if needed.
  4. 4 Click the Save button to save directly, or the Desk Shot button to open in the editor for annotation.

Tip: Still Shot is perfect for capturing specific UI elements, dialog boxes, or any content that requires precise framing.

Disable Windows Snipping Tool

If the Windows Snipping Tool is intercepting your Print Screen key, you'll need to disable it to use Desk Shot. Follow these steps:

Method 1: Via Windows Settings

  1. 1 Press Win + I to open Windows Settings.
  2. 2 Navigate to Accessibility (Windows 11) or Ease of Access (Windows 10).
  3. 3 Click on Keyboard in the left sidebar.
  4. 4 Find the option "Use the Print Screen button to open screen snipping" or "Use the Print Screen key to open Snipping Tool".
  5. 5 Toggle this option OFF.

Method 2: Via Snipping Tool Settings

  1. 1 Open the Snipping Tool application from the Start menu.
  2. 2 Click the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top-right corner.
  3. 3 Select Settings.
  4. 4 Under the Shortcuts section, toggle off "Use the Print Screen key to open Snipping Tool".

Note: After disabling the Snipping Tool shortcut, you may need to restart Desk Shot for the changes to take effect.
